Adam Hocking wasted no time in sorting out the complexities of 2 project lines on the clean block left of the Forcing the Rhubarb cave in the Llanberis Pass.

First up he pressed out a desperate stand up line that mantels onto the upper slab in the centre of the front facet of the boulder. Little Miss Dumpster Truck rates V8, but the obvious sitting start will add a grade or two if (or more likely, when) Adam manages to top out on this testing connection.

Next up, he hoovered up the attractive left-to-right traverse of the block – a complex 20 odd move power-stamina project of the highest quality that finishes with a stylish layback up the rounded right aręte of the boulder. Adam named the problem The Big Smile, and suggested, in line with the consensus from those who had already worked the traverse (i.e. Panton, Noden, Perrier, McHaffie), that V9 was a suitable grade.

The end section of the problem can be climbed from a sitting start on the slopers left of the arete; this gives a superb V6 in its own right. A further easier problem (V2) mantels into the scoop on the left from a sitting start, utilising the rounded arete feature.
