Adam Hocking grappling with the first ascent of Garibaldi V9 (photo: Paul Worsdale)

Adam Hocking and Paul Worsdale climbed a number of problems on a trio of boulders beneath and right of Llechog on the Rhyd Ddu side of the Snowdon Massif.

Ryan McConnell did develop a boulder in this area a few years back; the relationship between this and what the lads climbed is unclear, but they reported that at least one of the easier lines was chalked up.

Approaching from Rhyd Ddu and dropping down from the ridge to the left of the main crag (facing out) brought them to the First Boulder; 3 problems were climbed here: a leftwards trending V4, a rightwards diagonal V7 starting from the same central position and a further V5 breaking directly for the summit of the block.

200 metres to the right they found a 2nd block with a V3 left arête, with a V5 wall to the right, and a V6 groove feature right again.

From the First Boulder again, a 300 metre trek up left brought them to a large boulder with an obvious V2 wall and a striking overhanging arête to its right. This became Garibaldi, a superb V9 sitting start completed by Adam. It is also possible at V4 from a stand up position.
