Dan Knight has completed a fierce line at The Gop, the hardcore limestone venue situated just below Gop Hill above the village of Trelawnyd (which is just east of the Dyserth crags and south of Prestatyn).

Paper Birds 8A+ is a hybrid line sitting between Push the Button and Smoke a Bloke. Dan, who now lives near Chester, took seven sessions to crack the problem. For more details, a pic and some footage of Ned Feehally trying it a few years back, go to Doylo’s Blog.

The crag, which was first developed by Sam and Danny Cattell in 2005, has only eight lines, but they are all hard (i.e. 1 x 7A+, 2 x 7B, 1 x 7B+, 2 x 8A and 1 x 8A+). Full details will appear in the forthcoming North Wales Bouldering (2nd edition), but for now you can glean info from the second edition of the A55 Sport Climbs guide.
