Andy Moles on James' Wall LH 7A photo: Moles collection

James Lillie on the bold finish during the first ascent of James' Wall back in 2008 photo: Si Panton

Andy Moles has climbed a good companion line to James’ Wall on the outskirts of Llanberis. James' Wall LH (7A) tackles the thin wall just to the left. Step on with your left hand on an obvious poor hold and use the thin flakeline to gain holds on the slab. Finish with the reachy, gripping rockover as for James’ Wall.

Andy also climbed two variations on a sitter up the flake to the right, probably neither worth a star but pleasant and handy for warming up. 6A+ Start compressing poor holds either side of the big flake with a good foot jam,. Make a tricky first move then go up the flake via the big jug. Falling off after the jug not advised, but easier from there. 6B+ Start sitting lower on the right, with opposed sidepulls. Make a big first move to a good edge then gain the jug and finish as for the previous problem.
