David Fidler has climbed a heinous new line at everyone’s favourite hardcore crag, Rhiw Goch (so steep it overhangs twice!). Durin's Bane (8A/+) is essentially a low left start to Moria, pulling on just right of Lightweight.

”It starts with a despy stab off a heel toe cam and a bad sidepull into the footholds at the end of Moria, then uses some tension to finish up that problem.”

Explained David, before adding:

”I think it's 8A or 8A+, but I've never climbed an 8A+ so that seems like a bold claim. Zed, Cai, Osian and Sam Willis have had goes, with responses ranging from ‘yeah but that's a big move’ to ‘nope’. Anyway, JRR Tolkien's great great grandson videoed me doing it which [given the name] was a cherry on top of the icing on the cake.”
