Martin - Basher - Atkinson contemplating the crux section of Parisella's Original (V6) in 1983 - note the chalk free ramp line of Lou Ferrino in the background (photo: Gary Latter)

Pete Robins confirmed his allegiance to the cave of eternal justice when he climbed two belting stamina pumpers based around the neglected Parisella’s Original problem. The Parisella’s Original problem basically climbs the rising diagonal rail that leads up to the finish of Trigger Cut. For some reason this stand up line (which probably rates about V6/7a) was ignored in the main guide text, although there is a photograph of Basher Atkinson climbing it (back in ’83) in the historical section.

Pete managed to link the obvious reverse of the Right Wall Traverse, continuing up the rail to jugs up and left of the Trigger Cut finish – this rates about V7/7a+. (Although this link has thus far remained unrecorded, it does seem likely that somebody would have climbed it back in the good old days of yore.)

Pete then turned his attention to the more testing connection from the newly popular low start to Clever Beaver. This onerous link gave a superb V8/7b, culminating in the final tricky crux section of the Parisella’s Original problem.

In its current state of development there are nearly 60 separate non-eliminate problems/links between the grades of V4/6b – V14/8b+ in the Parisella’s Cave/Split Infinity area.
