Drawn in by the promise of more new lines, Streaky Desroy, Si Panton and Andy Godber landed for a quick evening session on the Beddgelert Forest dolerite boulders. With a limited amount of time they got stuck into cleaning up some new additions.
Firstly Si climbed the obvious sitting start to the groove in between the two steep arêtes 20m right of The Shocker wall. Birthday Groove sds went at a tricky V4/Font 6b. Andy then added a link into the groove from the sitter to the right arête, at about V3/Font 6a+.
Streaky then climbed an excellent line heading up left from the sitter at the base of the left arête, with initially powerful moves leading into a tenuous rockover finish. Birthday Party rates V5/Font 6c.
Streaky also pieced together a right-to-left link across this buttress, starting sitting on the right arete, and moving past the left arête with a wild swing, then continuing more easily leftwards, staying below the top all the way on the cleaned line of holds. Birthday Traverse is a tricky one to grade, but perhaps V5/Font 6c?
Finally Streaky climbed the back slopey edge of the jutting prow marking the right edge of The Shocker wall. This was started with feet on the obvious shelf and right hand in a jam. There is just enough back clearance for this if you get the right sequence. The Gift rates V5/Font 6c.
