Owen Hayward has climbed an impressive and scary line at Porth Nefoedd. Knockin’ on Nefoedd’s Door 7A! climbs the right side of Nefoedd Arete (a 6B+ in Area 1 first climbed by Jon Ratcliffe).

”It’s very gripping but tamed by some patio work….just, and it's absolutely brilliant. I tried staying on the right side of the arete from the base but it forces you round onto the left side for the first few moves so I gave up and climbed it the way nature intended!” explained Owen.

The problem starts sitting at the base of the arete on its left hand side. Make a couple of insecure moves up to an incut edge, step into the slopey notch on the arete then make a precarious and committing transition round to the right hand side. Great moves lead up this to the top. A sloper on the high shelf out right helps make the final moves feel a bit more secure...you hope!
