Archie showing good slab skills on Oh So Thin 6C+ Photos: Fraser Ball

Archie and Josie Ball have climbed a selection of excellent new problems in the Braichmelyn woods of Bethesda.

The main problem, Oh So Thin 6C+ (which was climbed by Archie), can be found to the left of the Braichmelyn/Super boulder. It climbs the short but excellent slab to the left of the flake crack. Undercut the flake and move up on very small holds to a side pull and then top out. The rock is superb and the moves funky.

Further left is a distinctive groove line; Archie had designs on this but found it too reachy so passed it over to his older sister, Josie, whom promptly did the deed. Electrophilic rates 6A+, but is undoubtedly harder for the short.

Archie bounced back with a nice dynamic problem on the right of a boulder that sits right next to the river. To find this carry on up the footpath from Electrophilic for 100m and then head to the river.

Happy Slappy 5+ is short but on perfect rock. The last addition was Skinny Dipping 5+ on the left side of the same boulder. A long move gains an edge up right; finish up and left.
