In keeping with the ongoing theme of ‘crags you thought were worked out but actually aren’t at all’, James McHaffie has grabbed another ripe old project line on Y Gasgen/The Barrel, below Dinas Mot. The sitting start to Central Groove is an obvious challenge and one that has seen sporadic attempts over the years.

The obvious sequence, moving up off the undercut pocket, proved not to be the way in the end. Despite Pete ‘the Hoover’ Robins breathing down his neck Caff nipped ahead and got the FA. Pete then made a quick consolation prize repeat, as shown in the film below:.
