This afternoon Si Panton linked Dustkick into the Flake Start/Left Wall High finish; a superb V8/7b, building to a crescendo on the final fingery moves.
Other link potential for Cave fanatics can be based around Sam Cattell’s ultra low sitting start to Clever Beaver (NB. the landing has been lowered here to allow space to move, vastly improving the problem. The sitting start described in the guide from the large undercuts has now been superceded.). Start sitting, with hands matched in the obvious crescent shaped hold, just right of the Crucial Times start. Powerful moves lead out past the large undercuts, and up into the Right Wall Traverse where a number of optional finishes present themselves:
1. Clever Beaver (V8+/7b+)- just before you pull on, look behind you towards the distant lip of the steepness; a long way, eh?
2. Beaver Cleaver (V8+/7b+)
3. Lipstick (V8/7b)
4. Beaver Right Hand (V7/8/7a+/7b)- a really classic link, and decidedly harder than the RWT finish.
5. Right Wall Traverse (V7/7a+) - this is much better than the original, which has a rather arbitrary pull on start. Also, the final crux section now feels particularly on-off with pumped arms.
So many links, so little time.
NB. If you dig this kind of power stamina stuff, check out the following on The Barrel:
Barrel Traverse into The Minimum (V8/7b), Barrel Traverse into Bulling 747 (V8+/7b+), Barrel Reverse into The Minimum (V9/7c)…I could go on.
