Ned Feehally has re-climbed the Main Vein sds on Y Clogfaen Caseg. For many years this had been a stubborn project, deflecting attempts from all and sundry. Tom Newman partially broke the spell when he managed to do a desperate straight pull through the crux, but didn’t complete the problem. In 2019 Dan Varian succeeded, using a seemingly crucial heel spike out right. The spike then broke off and a second ascent at the same grade seemed unlikely.

This weekend Ned did the deed, utilizing a tricky, insecure heel on the left, plus a bit of hard pulling too.

”It definitely feels harder now than it did with the heel spike. No idea on the grade. Maybe hard 8A+. But very high quality however hard it is.” said Ned after the ascent.

On the same day Ned also repeated Hustled sds (8B) in Dyffryn Ogwen.
