Strong Pesda crew, namely Gwil Tossell and Jack Pearce, have been busy up at Carreg Mianog in Dyffryn Ogwen. The following high quality lines were climbed about three weeks ago.

Super Scooper' (7B), first climbed by Gwil, can be found about 100m and then 50m up from Isles of Wonder. Here you will find an obvious scoop feature above a good landing ledge. Start sitting with one or both hands on the obvious jug and move rightwards to slopers on the aręte. Using some crimps for the left hand and a tenuous heel hook you get set up for a hard move to latch a small edge. ”This has excellent rock, cool moves, and is harder than it looks.” said Jack.

2m to the right of Super Scooper there is an awesome 6B slab. And 10m to the right there is another easier slab but of equal quality. Probably a 4 or 5.

Pronk' (7A+), first climbed by Jack, lies 100m rightwards from Isles of Wonder where there is an obvious leaning face next to a much bigger (trad) wall. The right arete gives a really great problem with some big right and left bumps reliant on a right heel toe jam. ”Topping out was a real difficulty for us at first but with the right beta and commitment it isn’t too bad. Once again, awesome rhyolite with cool moves.” said Jack.

The left hand aręte of the same block from sitting gives a 3 star 6B called Sog Arete with an awesome top out sequence. FA done by Gwil’s friend Osian. Gwil also added an extension that starts from the right aręte with the same start as Pronk that follows the crack leftwards and into aręte at 6C+ish.

It’s worth noting that Jack managed to flash Jim Pope’s 2021 addition, Pringle (7C), reckoning 7B was a fairer grade for someone of his height (6ft).
